Kingsley Ward

Chairman​

​

Kingsley has over 30 years of experience initiating, structuring, and monetizing private equity investments. He is the Managing Partner of VRG Capital and serves as Chairman of Clarus Securities Inc., DATA Communications Management Corp. (TSX:DCM), HealWELL AI (TSX: AIDX). He serves as a Director of Dominion Lending Centers Group (TSX:DLCG), Simply Better Brands Group (TSXV: SBBC) and Globalive Technology Holdings Inc.

Kingsley previously served as founder and former Director of IPEC Ltd., founder and former Chairman of Pareto Corporation (TSE:PTO), was a former Director of PLM Group Ltd. (TSX:PGL) and of Wheels Group Inc. (TSXV:WGI). He was the former Chairman of Jones Brown Holdings.

Kingsley is also a Director of Polo Canada and has been actively involved in the Young Presidents' Organization (YPO) since 1999.

Bashar Alrehany

President & CEO

​

Bashar Alrehany has over 25 years’ experience as a CEO and board member in the financial services, technology, and health care sectors.

​

He was previously the CEO of Dow Jones Markets Canada and more recently was the CEO of BCA Research and the Ned Davis Group which he led from 2003.

​

In addition, to his role as Managing Director at VRG Capital Inc., Bashar is a board member of Infrastructure Ontario, and a member of the Advisory Board of Veritas Investment Research and Board member of Children Mental Health Ontario. He was also a board member of Euromoney Institutional Investor Plc.

​

He completed his ICD, DEP designations from the University of Toronto - Rotman.

Peter Lood

CIO

Peter has held senior positions at Scotia Bank within investment banking, financial engineering, and risk management in North America and Asia.

​

As Chief of Trading and Risk Management, his team developed a portfolio of highly automated and discretionary trading strategies outperforming the S&P index benchmark for a ground-breaking financial engineering company. Peter is a pioneer in algorithmic trading; his startup company, AFI, became a catalyst for a quantitative hedge fund with clients that included a prestigious North American pension fund.

​

Peter has an Honors BA in Economics from Western University and attended INSEAD - The Business School for the World.

Spencer Adamson

Vice President, Business Development

Spencer has been an Associate at VRG Capital, a Toronto-based family office specializing in Private Equity since graduating from Queen’s University in 2020. Over his short tenure, he has been involved in a number of high-value transactions, including IPOs, Private-Placements, M&A deals, and Debt raises, totalling over $200M+ of value. He brings a precocious expertise in capital markets to Q2 Capital and is focused on spearheading the strategic initiatives for expanding the fund's investor base and driving revenue growth.

Laura Freimane

Controller

Laura has held senior positions at VRG Group since 2012, working as an accountant before being promoted to controller of VRG Group in 2013. She has supported numerous transactions and acted as interim controller for several VRG portfolio companies. She provides operational oversight and financial accounting for Q2.  

 

Laura has completed her CSC & CPA designation and has a Bachelor degree in Business Management from Riga Stradins University, Latvia.

Greg Cochrane

Vice-Chairman

Greg Cochrane has been a Managing Partner of VRG Capital since 2011. With VRG he has been a lead investor and a director in a number of public and private companies including Wheels Group, Capri Media Group, Jones Brown Insurance Brokerage and Founders Advantage Capital.

 

Greg began his career with General Electric and then S.C. Johnson. In 1981 he bought into Mariposa Communications. By 1997, when the company was sold to Mosaic Group, he and his partner had built the largest event company in Canada. He was appointed President of Data Communications Management (DCM) and later served as CEO until March 2021.

 

Greg currently serves as Vice Chairman on the Board of Directors. Greg currently serves on the Advisory Board of Kensington Capital and is on the Foundation Board for Princess Margaret Cancer Center.

Brock Bundy CPA, CMA, ICD.D

CFO

​

Brock has more than 30 year’s experience in the financial sector. He started his career in 1987 with the Royal Bank of Canada where he held a number of positions in both Canada and Japan in the Capital Markets group as an institutional Trader and then joined the Corporate Bank where he managed loan portfolios. Currently, he is a Managing Partner of VRG Capital Inc., a private equity merchant bank, where he holds a number of directorships within the portfolio of VRG Capital companies, both private and public. Brock also sits on the investment committee of a multi billion-dollar private debt fund.

 

He attended the University of Ottawa and the Université de Paris-Sorbonne where he received his degree in Economics. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant, a member of the Society of Management Accountants of Ontario, a member of the Institute of Corporate Director’s, and a past member of the Association of Corporate Growth, Turnaround Management Association, Commercial Finance Association, Association of Canadian Pension Management and the Investment Funds Institute of Canada. 

 

He was honored with the Governor General of Canada Award in 2004, and in 2019 he was inducted into the University of Ottawa Football Hall of Fame.

William Shin

COO

William has global experience in launching and incubating successful ventures across multiple industries, including nutraceuticals, retail advertising, high-tech service delivery, and mobile gaming. His apps have achieved top 10 rankings and Apple's staff picks.

​

He has served as CTO in both established companies and start-ups, bridging technical solutions with future business needs in big data analysis, quantitative trading, and operations.

​

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Seoul National University. He earned his PMP designation from the Project Management Institute in 2011.

RJ Bundy

Vice President, Software Development

RJ Bundy brings expertise in full-stack web development and a solid educational background in Computer Science from the University of Ottawa. With a wealth of experience, he has played a pivotal role in the design and development of products at Q2, contributing to innovative solutions and improved efficiency. RJ’s strong leadership and technical skills continue to drive Q2's software development initiatives, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and cutting-edge products to clients.
